Quasi-Developable B-Spline Surface Design with Control Rulings

An intuitive design method is proposed for generating developable ruled B-spline surfaces from a sequence of straight line segments indicating the surface shape. The first and last are enforced to be head tail ruling lines resulting while interior required approximate rulings on as much possible. This manner conceptually similar popular way freeform curve in CAD community, observing that single parameter family lines. new mode also provides more flexibility than widely employed two boundary curves surface. problem treated by numerical optimization methods with which particular level distance error allowed. We thus provide an effective tool creating high degree developability when input control do not lie exact surfaces. consider this ability superiority over analytical it can deal arbitrary inputs find practically useful results.

In this paper we introduce a numerical approach that solves optimal control problems (OCPs) using collocation methods. This approach is based upon B-spline functions. The derivative matrices between any two families of B-spline functions are utilized to reduce the solution of OCPs to the solution of nonlinear optimization problems.
